LUCILLE SPARRAZZA, Business Manager

Lucille Sparrazza is the owner of Perinton Dance Company. Lucille's past experience with JPMprgan Chase Bank and also as a board member on numerous committees (Garth Fagan Dance, Flower City Ballet, and other organizations) allows her to draw from her past experience in directing the studio. Lucille is always available to listen to customers' comments and suggestions as to ways of bringing improvements to the studio. Please feel free to contact her at (585)223-1978.

Perinton Dance Company is fortunate to have mature, professional teachers who specialize in ballet, jazz, tap, theatrical and acrobatics. They offer a wide background of dance expertise including competition and professional stage experiences. Each year our instructors attend conventions in New York City to keep abreast of current dance techniques. Our students have won numerous awards for excellence in all types of dance due to the dedication of our talented staff.


CHRIS KASTNER, Director

Chris Kastner is the director of all competition classes. She is a graduate of Brockport State College with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She began her dance training at the age of seven. Prior to joining our studio, she co-owned and operated her own successful dance studio for 14 years. Several of her former students have gone on to pursue careers in dance. Chris won numerous high score dance and choreography awards. She has served as a judge at various dance and cheerleading competitions in New York, Canada and Florida. Most recently, Chris was awarded 2005 Teacher of the Year. Chris resides in Chili with her husband Bill and their two children.

 

LYNN MAHER, Dance Director

Lynn Maher is the director of all non-competition classes. She has extensive training in all disciplines of dance and gymnastics. She has taught in the Rochester area for over twenty years and owned her own studio for 15 years. Many of Lynn's students have won numerous awards for excellence. Lynn has also judged many pageants and competitions. Lynn resides in Chili with her husband Mark and their two children.

 

 

STEPHANIE BEARDSLEY

Dance has been a part of Stephanie’s life for over thirty five years.  Stephanie is a well rounded teacher that loves all forms of dance and has an extensive background in gymnastics and tumbling.  She continues to attend classes to keep current. Stephanie was a co-owner of a studio for over 20 years and many of her former students have become members of dance companies, cheerleading coaches and even Broadway.  Stephanie believes in the discipline and the importance of good technique necessary to become a strong dancer and also realizes the social aspect and stimulating fun that can be the result of having dance in your life.  Along with dance, Stephanie also works as the director of a cooperative pre-school.  

 

 

KRISTIN HOPWOOD

Kristin is so excited to be a new staff member at Perinton Dance Company. Kristin has been dancing since the age of three and has her BFA in Music Theater. While in college, she worked in several professional venues performing musicals such as Smokey Joe's Cafe, A chorus Line, world goes round and countless others. Other accolades include her acceptance and participatiion in the Broadway theater Project run by Anne Reinking! There she had the honor of working with and performing for artists such as Gregory Hines, en Vereen, and Julie Andrews. Some of her most recent and local performances include principle roles in Jewtopie (JCC Center Stage), Wild Party Blackfriars), and Dames@ Sea (Geva's Next Stage).

 

 

RENEE MANCUSO

Renee began dancing at the age of three years old at Perinton Dance Company (formerly known as Lynn Scott School of Dance). She began competing at the age of seven and since then has won numerous awards at the Regional, National and World Dance level. Throughout the years, Renee was invted to participate with the Starpower Dance Team (two times) as well as the Dance USA Team (three times). She traveled to Italy for two weeks with Dance USA as a participant on their USA Dance Team and competed at the World Dance Championships taking the highest awards in all areas of dance. Renee has also participated in the American Girl's Dancing Through Times (three years) and was also invited to Orlando Florida where she danced in the Magic Kingdom at Disney's Magical Music Days. She was also selected and performed with the North Carolina Ballet Company in the Nutcracker. Throughout the years, Renee has traveled to NYC several times and taken numerous classes at The Broadway Dance Center and Stepps on Broadway as well as taking class at Radio City Music Hall taught by one of the Rocketts. Currently Renee is also a nursing student at St, John Fisher College but still has her passion for dance.

 

TRACY POINTEN

Tracy attended Ithaca College with a minor in dance. She was a member, captain and choreographer for the Ithaca College Dance Team. The dance team competed and placed in the National UDA Competition in Orlando, Florida. Tracy has taught a various studios and is currently enrolled at St. John Fisher College studying biology.

 

CHRISTA REEVES

Dance has been an integral part of life for Christa Reeves, with over thirty-five years of training and dedication to the art, much of her life has been laced with joy and success as a result. Christa’s involvement in dance has included owning and operating her own studio for twenty-three years in the village of Hilton. Christa is proud to be a member and serve on the board of Dance Masters of America. Her education through DMA has titled her certified by test to teach after undergoing the DMA teacher training curriculum at University of Buffalo. On the local level, Christa enjoys her involvement with Dance Rochester! where she also serves on the board and finds great pleasure promoting dance in her hometown.

Christa’s creative choreography has been influenced over the years by many great teachers including Beverly Fletcher, Tom Relabate, Gus Giordano, Judy Rice, Suzanne Nash, Lynn Formato and more. Christa considers her love of all areas of dance to be an asset, making her competent and qualified to teach all areas of dance. Several of Christa’s former students are currently performing on Broadway in productions of 42nd Street, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers as well as a modern dance company in Arizona.

Christa’s community involvement has included working for Greece Continuing Education Performing Arts Camp and choreographing local plays including Bye Bye Birdie and Newsies.

Christa continues to stay up to date with teaching techniques and styles by attending classes in buffalo and many workshops.

 

JENNIFER REPP

Jennifer Repp is a Buffalo native where she danced at the Judy Pichardt Dance Academy for 15 years. She graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Dance from the University at Buffalo where she was also a teaching assistant for two years. Jennifer has taught dance in the Western New York area for over seven years. She has performed with the University at Buffalo Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble Company for two years and choreographed for Dancers Workshop her junior and senior years. Jennifer continues to study dance with master teachers at local conferences and in New York City.

 

RAMONA REUTER

Ramona has 18 years of teaching experience with beginners to advanced, preschool to adult in the disciplines of tap, jazz, ballet, acro, baton, musical theatre and lyrical. Her choreography has won her several awards over the years including high score honors at local, state and national levels. In 2005 her tap students received the national honor of overall entertainment and were selected to join the Dance USA team to compete in Italy. Most recently she had several dances which she choreographed and taught selected for the Finger Lakes Tap Festival. Her performance experience includes Andromeda Dance Team, featured dancer with the Beach Boys and guest dancer at the Mrs. America Pageant and is a former Buffalo Jill. She is certified in NDEITA, CPR, BFIT, and AFAA and as a personal trainer. Ramona was recently selected to teach a masterclass for Dance Masters of America, a national organization. She is the only local dance instructor honored with this request. She is also an experienced aerobic instructor, and has won many pageant awards including winning Miss New York USA in 1997. She has been featured in Oxygen Magazine as the future of fitness. Ramona also enjoys traveling to judge competitions. Always giving the best to students, Ramona continues to take classes whenever she can.

 

JOLIE ROAT

Jolie first started dancing at age four at Lynn Scott School of Dance (now Perinton Dance Company). She also trained at the Draper Center for Dance Education and took several classes in New York City at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway, as well as in Copenhagen, Denmark with the Royal Danish Ballet. Performances include multiple Nutcrackers with companies including the North Carolina Ballet Theater, the Rochester City Ballet Company and the Flower City Ballet. She has also danced in special events such as the Dance Rochester! Gilda Club Fundraiser, American Girl fundraiser “Dancing through Time” and Disney Magic Music Days. Jolie is currently a member of a dance group that will be dancing in Dance Rochester! Composer/Choreographer Concert in the fall of 2005. Jolie has competed and won several awards at both at the Regional and National level for many years and has been invited to participate in National Starpower Dance Team and the National Dance USA Dance Team twice.

Jolie is currently a student at Nazareth College studying mathematics with the hope of teaching at the high school or collegiate level in the Rochester area.

 

ELIZABETH BERENDS

Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from SUNY Brockport. She has been teaching for Perinton Dance Company since 2003. She teaches creative movement and all levels of ballet and pointe. Her competitive students have won high gold, platinum, and special technique awards.


 

JEN TALTY

Jen began dancing and gymnastics at the age of 3 in Albany, NY. She continued with dancing and gymnastics through 8th grade and performed in various shows. At age 14, she relocated to Rochester, NY and continued her dance instruction at local studios, competing at regional, state and national levels. During her high school years, she performed and choreographed numbers for various shows and plays. She also worked with the high school gymnastics team on floor routines. During her college years, she continued to dance and teach aerobics. She took some time off for her three children and began teaching again in 1997 at Lynn Scott School of Dance (now Perinton Dance Company).
